let's sit down before we go

Bertien van Manen - let's sit down before we go on view at foam in amsterdam.

beyond the photos, the title of this series caught my attention.  when i was growing up, my mother used to insist that we sit before we left the house--it was her mother's tradition.  

from foam's description; "...before leaving for a long journey, Russian people sit down for a moment and think about where they will be going and why. ..."

apparently, there is a whole line of eastern european women, perched on chairs ready to leave a place.
