desert oasis

last week, i visited bobby furst in his studio/gallery space out in the desert.  bobby has an incredible amount of salavage, meticulously organized in three hangars. he built the space from the ground up, and uses the objects for various installation pieces. bobby's world is the happy meeting of terry gilliam and willy wonka, in pure southern california style.

the curio drawers, are fantastic. there's a drawer for teeth, a drawer for silk flowers and one for wooden mushrooms.

the order in this place completely nurtures the obsessive part of my personality. but it was his garbage that put me over the edge.

the system could only come from someone who has spent so many years in junkyards.

my kind of heaven.  bobby's going to open up the space as a gallery (and for rental) in the next year.
