the 12 winning structures will go up in union square on the 19th and 20th, one structure will be selected by popular vote, to stand during the week-long jewish holiday. new york magazine is officiating the people's choice award, you can vote on their site.
the rules of the contest corresponded to the traditional parameters for building a sukkah set out in jewish law. the site has a beautifully designed page highlighting these rules. there are also photos and spaces, transparent ceilings and broken walls. i hope i get a chance to see them up in the city!
