iida's mobile design

designboom featured iida's (internation interior design association) new "mobile art concepts" today. one of them is light pool,  is a mobile phone, created by designer hironao tsuboi for iida. there are 22 LEDs arranged along the triangular windows, that come with 10 preset light sequences and10 music sequences. sound and light can be assigned to particular caller IDs, so the body of the phone changes for each caller. adhesive films (one made of traditional japanese paper) can be affixed to the body of the phone further altering the quality of the light.  it's a strange new world.

another featured item is this cord router. it's a piece of pure genius. i hate the mess of cords, and these colorful rings solve the problem beautifully!

you can see the rest of iida's mobile art concepts here.
